PSA Winter Discos

winter disco ball

Last Thursday saw our PSA Pyjama Party Winter Discos!

It was great to see so many people wearing their onesies and pyjamas, singing, dancing and having fun! There were a lot of red faces leaving the discos too, as people got very hot under the collar after dancing about so much in all their cosy gear!

Thanks to the PSA for organising this event, and thanks to all who supported by attending. The discos made an amazing £784 towards supporting school improvements!

Here are some images of the night!

Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2018

Edinburgh Marathon

The annual Edinburgh Marathon Festival is just around the corner!

EMF weekend is Saturday 26th-Sunday 27th May, and is a special event in the school calendar for the runners and their family and friends who join us with banners and cheer us on at Holyrood Park.

The money raised has helped us buy new picnic tables and seating for the playground, revamp ‘Golden Time’ as well as continue the Cultural Fund. This supports all classes to do something cool in Edinburgh, whether that be a trip to Dynamic Earth, a visit to the Book Festival or climbing at Alien Rock. Every penny is spent in a way that enhances school life across all year groups.

Attached below is more information about how our school community is involved in this event, and how you can get involved too!

Happy Anniversary!

anniversary

This week has seen the 2nd anniversary of the launch of our Broughton Primary School website!

This weekend should see us hit 100,000 views since we launched!

Thanks for visiting!

We hope the website, and associated Twitter feed, continues to provide effective communication about the life and works of the school.

However, we are always looking to improve, so feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions.

Here’s to our next 100,000 visits!

Thank You

Broughton Buddies

buddies
Broughton Buddies is new for 2018. This will take place during school for one morning or one afternoon a week. The groups will be mixed stages and have no more than twelve pupils. The groups will be facilitated by Mrs Dickinson and Ms Chambers.
The focus of the groups are to build friendships, gain confidence and develop a range of skills for life, learning and work. Some activities might include preparing and sharing a small healthy snack, playing educational games, outdoor learning and gardening.
Morning Drop-in
When the room is not being used for Broughton Buddies between 9 and 9.30 in the morning all children are welcome to come and use the time to speak to staff or a peer if they are needing a quiet space to talk about anything. This is always at the discretion of the class teacher.

Here is our Broughton Buddies Wordle!

The group’s roles will initially be-

  • to monitor the charging of laptops and Ipads
  • to maintain these machines by monitoring their photo libraries and folders
  • collecting evidence of successful learning throughout the school, and helping to update our school website/Twitter feed
  • create a video tour of the school for our school website

We’d like to thank the group for taking on this responsibility, and look forward to the impact their efforts have on the delivery of ICT in school!

Our PSA have set up a new source of fundraising through Easy2name.com which at the same time can help reduce the amount of lost property we have in school. You can purchase name labels for a range of items, and our PSA will receive cash back for each order.

Flyers and samples will be sent to the school, but if you are interested, a screenshot is attached to show you how to select the school from the drop down list before checkout.

2nd    Pilrig    6002 points

3rd    McDonald    5460 points

Well done to our current leaders, Drummond! Let’s all keep earning those points, and we’ll see if these positions will change by the end of term in June!

PSA Winter Disco

Winter Disco 2018

Our PSA are holding a Winter Disco on Thursday 25th January in our school Gym Hall. The P1-3 disco will be from 6pm-7pm, and the P4-7 disco will be from 7.15-8.30pm.

The theme is Pyjama Party, so get dressed up in your PJs, onesies and slippers!

The PSA will only be selling tickets in advance, so once the flyer is sent home in your child’s school bag, to avoid disappointment, please fill in the tear off slip and return it to school in an envelope with payment. Any unsold tickets will be available on the night, but on a first come, first served basis.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, however each adult can supervise up to six children.

If you can help out at either disco, please email broughtonparents@gmail.com or post a message on the PSA Facebook page, accessible through the ‘Contact Us’ section of this website.

All money raised will go towards our cultural fund and playground developments.

We look forward to seeing you then!
