This year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival was a very successful event, with over 120 entrants from Broughton’s pupils, parents and staff!

We’ve heard from the EMF organisers that the Junior races are 50% full already.  If you are interested in taking part next year, you should sign up ASAP!

Broughton’s Got Talent!

Got Talent

Today we held our annual ‘Broughton’s Got Talent’ show in the hall. We certainly do have talent! We had magic tricks, dancing, singing, gymnastics displays, flute playing, keyboard playing and a puppet show. Our judges Mrs Ramm and Ms Milligan had a very difficult task trying to pick winners from all the wonderful talent on display! But pick 2 winners they did- P1-3 winner was Maciej from P3a for his confident singing, and the P4-7 winners were a dance/gymnastics group from P4b, made up of Holly, Grace, Mairi, Triona and Amelie, for their well choreographed and practised routine. Well done!

Well done to everyone who took part! Whether you auditioned in your class, or made it to the final, it’s a very brave thing to do to perform in front of an audience. It takes confidence as well as talent! Thanks to Mrs Ramm and Ms Milligan for their judging skills too. Here are some photos of our talented lot!

Transitions!

transition(1)

Yesterday we held our annual Nursery-P1 transition event.

Our new P1s who start in August had the opportunity to visit our P1 classrooms for an activity time. Parents and carers were treated to a presentation from Mrs Rushforth and Ms Vacher, giving them lots of important information about our school, and starting P1. There was also a marketplace of stalls for the parents and carers to visit, including:

  • Pupil Council
  • Eco-committee
  • Junior Road Safety Officers
  • After School Clubs
  • PSA and Parent Council
  • EAL service
  • Superlogo School Uniform
  • Dental Service

Our guests were even able to enjoy a P1 Fashion Show, showing off some examples of school unform available!

The Gym Hall was very busy, and we hope everyone was able to get a flavour of our school, our associated groups and pupil voices!

Here are some pictures of the event! Huge congrats to Ms Vacher for organising this. A massive task! Thanks to all who gave their time to help make this event a success!

In other transitions, our P7 pupils spent 3 days at their new High Schools this week. They got the chance to become more familiar with their new school buildings, and take part in some activities their new timetables will follow. We received some very positive feedback, and our pupils were ‘a credit’ to us! Well done P7!

Parent and Carer Drop-In

parent drop in

Today we held our final drop-in session of the year.

It was lovely to see so many visitors taking part in a range of activities around the school.

Special mention goes to our P4 classes, who organised a very busy Sushi Cafe to fund raise for Cancer Research. They were busy waiting on their parents and carers, taking orders and bringing them their delicious sushi! Their cafe raised around £50!

We hope you enjoyed this opportunity to spend some time in classes. Here are some photos we’d like to share!

PSA Summer Fair 2018

Summer Fair pic

Last weekend we held our annual PSA Summer Fair in our school playground.

Thamkfully the weather was kind to us, and the playground was buzzing with activity! There were so many different stalls to visit, lots to eat and drink, and fun activities to take part in.

Huge thanks and congratulations to our PSA for all their organisation. Thanks also to all who helped set up, run or tidy up stalls and events. Thanks too, if you attended and helped by buying something on the day!

Our fair raised the amazing total of £2312!

Sports Day 2018

sports-day

Thankfully the weather was glorious today for our Infant and Upper School Sports!

Thanks to Mrs Ramm for organising the events; they both ran very smoothly. We had lots of fun taking part in a wide range of events.

Well done to everyone for participating so well. We’ll find out on Monday at the Sports Assembly which Infant class won the Infant Sports event, and which individuals in P4-7 won medals. There were lots of house points awarded today too, for good sportsmanship and behaviour! Here are some photos of both events.
