The annual Edinburgh Schools Swimming Gala was held on Wednesday 23rd March.

Our Broughton team were excellent ambassadors for the school, who took part with maximum effort and impeccable behaviour all morning!

School Lottery

Lottery button

Broughton Primary’s PSA has joined Your School Lottery, where every ticket sold raises money for our school. Tickets cost just £1, and each ticket not only enters you in to the Broughton Primary weekly prize, but also the national School Lottery to win £25,000 each week.

So far we’ve raised £294.40 from just 34 supporters, which has us on track to raise £1,068 by the end of the year. Help us raise as much as we can to benefit all our children, and consider buying a ticket!

Bumper News Update!

It’s been a busy time recently at Broughton- here are some of our latest updates-

World Book Day

World Book Day

Thursday 3rd March was World Book Day. As usual, we entered into the spirit of the day, and there were so many amazing costumes showing characters from our favourite books. As well as dressing up, we gave out World Book Day vouchers, which can be used at the visiting Book Fair next week. There were also a range of reading and literacy activites across the school to mark the day. Well done to all!

Sporting Events

Our P7 Basketball team took part in the Edinburgh Schools Basketball Finals at Meadowbank Stadium on Monday 7th March. Although we didn’t win, we played well in 3 hard fought matches. Just getting to the final means we are in the top 8 basketball teams in the city! A great achievement!

Mrs Ramm will be taking our Cross Country team to the annual Edinburgh Schools event on Monday 14th March, and Mr Borthwick will be taking our Swimming team to the annual Edinburgh Schools Gala at the Commonwealth Pool on Wednesday 23rd March. Good luck to both teams, results and pictures to follow!

Members of P6a and our Musical Theatre group both participated, showing great confidence and talent in their performances! Well done to all who gave their time and efforts to make this such a success!

Excursions

There have been some interesting excursions recently, and there are more to come before the Easter holidays. P5 have been to the National Museum, P2 have used generous PSA Cultural Funding to help support a visit to Craigmillar Castle, and P4 have been visiting the Royal Mile as part of their work on Old Edinburgh. As always, keep checking class pages in the ‘Class Information‘ section for latest news and pictures of what our classes have been learning!

Euro Quiz

On Wednesday 2nd March , a team of P6a pupils represented the school at the Edinburgh Schools heat of the Euro Quiz, held at the City Chambers.

There were around 20 schools there, all fighting it out to be the one school to represent all Edinburgh schools at the national Euro Quiz final in May.

Our team members were Katie Telford, Ruth Adler, Katherine Donn and Maya Davidson, and they worked really hard preparing for the event.

Although they didn’t win, they answered the tricky questions well, and most importantly, had fun!

They also earned 15 house points each for their hard work and committment!

Well done girls!
