We made it! It’s been a very busy few weeks, but the end of term is here, and what a year we’ve had at Broughton!
As is customary, our last post of the year gives us a chance to pay tribute to our P7 pupils, who are moving on to new adventures in High School after summer.
P7 Show
In May, P7 presented their annual leavers show to the school and their families. Set in a retirement village, the characters reminisced about their time at Broughton over the years, and all the various events, trends and music that shaped those memories. P7 worked incredibly hard and the show was a massive success!
Leavers BBQ
Another Broughton P7 tradition is our P7 Leavers BBQ. This year we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather and could hold this over at Botanical Broughton. All the classes in school made bunting to decorate Botanical Broughton, with good luck and farewell messages for P7. The atmosphere was really relaxed, and there was music, dancing, playing and chilling out on picnic rugs. A fun time was had!
Last Day of Term
On the last day of term P7 visited all the classrooms in the school, for the customary signing of their P7 jumpers. This gives them a chance to say goodbye to their friends from other classes, and their P1 buddies.
Assembly
The final event of the year is the P7 Leavers Assembly. Our P7s picked the song for the assembly, and were presented with their leaving gift and Yearbook.
The House Captains announced the final totals of this year’s House Points. After a close race all year, it’s a huge well done to Drummond house, who win the House Shield for the first time! The full final totals are here-
1st Drummond- 14453 pts
2nd McDonald- 14308 pts
3rd Pilrig- 14155 pts
4th Trinity- 13677Â pts
P7 also had the chance to perform songs from their show for one last time, and Miss Stewart shared a video of Broughton staff sharing their own personal messages for P7.
We sent our P7s off to High School in style- piped out of school by Louise! All our classes came out into the stairwell to clap P7 out, and P4 and P5 formed a tunnel to guide them through into the playground to meet their parents and carers. An emotional day for everyone!
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in our school community a sunny, happy summer break! Thanks for all your support this year!
Huge thanks to our hard working staff team too- enjoy a well deserved rest!
Let’s hope the sun shines- see you in August!
