Broughton News

We are delighted to share with you Episode 1 of P7’s Broughton Primary News. P7a have been working very hard to produce this, and we hope this will become a weekly event, to keep you all up to date with all our current affairs. Well done to P7, there are some future broadcasters in evidence here!

In other news, we are again very grateful for help clearing and tidying our Bowling Green space at the weekend. This time, Broughton After School Club staff helped out, as well Maya from P7a, Leo and Amelia from P2a, Fraser from P5a, Finlay Bartholomew from P5b with big sister Holly, and Ria from P3a, all of whom definitely need 10 house points each for their efforts! Thank you for your help!

WOW Launch- 2020-2021

Three of our pupils, Uvee P6, Danny P4 and Sam P3, were photographed today for the launch of WOW.  WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It’s that easy! Further information can be found using the link below

Monday Update

Good morning everyone.

We hope you all had a good weekend.

Please see below an update letter from Mrs Gowans, sent out on Friday.

HT Update- 28th August

Also, we are very grateful to the group of parent and pupil helpers who helped to tidy up the bowling greens at the weekend.

The pictures below show the cleared edges and the giant pile of cuttings they have used to block off the broken wooden fence from dog walkers. They think with another Sunday of work and having the grass cut will make the area more accessible.

Extra house points earned by:
Imre and Alasdair from P6, and Triona and Nadia from P7 for helping out!

Imre also made a few signs that have gone up by both entrance gates to ask that dog walkers don’t go inside.

Thank you so much for all your hard work!

Update- Friday 14th August

Good afternoon everyone,

Please see below an update from Mrs Gowans-

Good afternoon,

We’ve made it to the end of week 1! At the moment we are going to keep the current arrangements for dropping off and picking up in place for next week to give us a chance to see a full week. There will therefore be no one way system introduced at this point.

Please see the table below for a reminder about times, stages and procedures-

Friday 14th August- Times and Procedures for Stages

A huge thank you to the small band of parents who came into the playground last Sunday. They did an amazing job of tidying up all the planters and clearing months of weeds from all around the grounds. This was hugely appreciated. We are now able to see all the fantastic fruit growing on the fruit trees and bushes that were planted by our current P3s last year. There are so many apples.
We are now planning some planting activities for the coming weeks and months.

Building Resilience- Back to School Tips#10

Back to School Tip#10

We have loved being part of your journey back to school. Today we are posting the last of our ten tips. We hope you will still be able to benefit from them over the coming term. Developing resilience can help us cope with the ups and downs which may arise.

Back to School Tip #10: Have a Goal – A new journey starts with a step…

Your child: Talk to your child about what they would like to learn or get better at by the end of this term, such as a sport’s skill, a new hobby, being able to cook something, dress themselves, etc.
You: Think about something positive you can start to do, or you keep doing when your child returns to school. E.g. start a new class, exercise, meet a friend, complete a home improvement project.

For more information about going Back to School and supporting your own and your child’s wellbeing visit www.edinburgh.gov.uk/backtoschool

We hope you have enjoyed using these tips! We are looking forward to getting used to our school routines again. Stay safe!
