FAQs for New P1 Parents and Carers
Hello everyone,
Attached below is a list of frequently asked questions for new P1 families you may find useful!
End of Term!
We had a busy end to our final term of the year!
Broughton’s Got Talent
We held our annual Broughton’s Got Talent contest. Each stage was represented and we had 2 separate competitions, one for P1-3 and one for P4-P7. It was so lovely to see such a range of talent on display, and we also had performances from our P4-P5 choir and P7 too. Our judges were Katie from our After School Club and Ms Sitaridou, and they had a very tough job to pick winners! Mason from P3b won the P1-3 contest with his great piano playing, and Louie from P4a won from P4-P7 with fabulous magic tricks! Thanks to Mrs Clark for organising, here are some photos of the event!
P7 Leavers
We also said goodbye and good luck to our P7s as they left to move on to secondary school!
We enjoyed having a Leavers BBQ, with games and music, as well as lots of yummy things to eat and drink. Then on the last day of term P7 visited classrooms to have their special P7 uniforms signed. We held a special assembly for them, where they were presented with their Yearbooks and a gift from the school. P1 buddies, P6 pupils and P7 parents also attended the assembly, and P1 performed a lovely song for their buddies! The P7 Brass players performed, and P7 sang a song from their show. The House Captains also got to announce the final House Points totals for the year, and show off the House Shield. Here are the final totals-
Drummond- 13481 points
Pilrig- 12740 points
Trinity- 12687 points
McDonald- 12647 points
Well done Drummond!
Finally, the P7s were piped out of school by our lovely piper, Louise. All the classes clapped the P7s out as they left the school building for the last time!
We’d like to wish all our the P7s the very best of luck and happiness for the future! We’re all very proud of you, and hope you keep reaching for the stars as you move on to high school! We will miss you! Here are some photos of these events!
We hope you all have a wonderful summer! Thanks to all our pupils, staff, parents and carers for all their hard work and support this session! We wish you all a restful, sunny and safe break, and look forward to seeing you all again in August!
Sunrise Day 2023
On Friday we held our first ‘Sunrise Day’ celebrating equality and diversity in our school.
OPEG ( Our Pupil Equalities Group) came up with this idea, and helped to plan what the day should include. They decided to name the day ‘Sunrise Day’ after their motto. ‘When the sun rises, it rises for everyone.’
Friday was such a lovely day! We had some parents and carers visiting classes to share about their country or culture. Stories, songs, presentations, hand painting, national dress and artefacts were among the many things shared. It was lovely to see so many of our pupils who came dressed in national dress too!
We also had food tasting of a range of different dishes and tasty treats, and classes had an equalities theme to learning happening in class that day.
We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to our day, either by coming in to share with a class, or by contributing some food to share! Below are some photos from the day!
