Summer Fair Update

Please see below an update on last weekend’s Summer Fair from FAB-

FAB Summer Fair 2023

FAB Summer Fair 2023 was one to remember!!  Not only did you help raise approximately £2,400 (expenses pending) for the benefit of our children at Broughton Primary and Nursery, we also raised awareness of community spirit – parents/carers and staff volunteers, pupils from Broughton Primary and Drummond Community High, our local clubs and local businesses all played their vital part in making it a successful Summer Fair 2023.  We cannot thank you all enough.

Last Saturday, we had….

– sunshine,

-a playground full of fun games and activities,

-the gym hall full of art and craft,

-a visit from the fire engine,

-154 Edinburgh North East Scouts,

-Chinese Calligraphy and games provided by the Edinburgh Chinese School,

-Crombies sausages on the BBQ,

-serving dishes donated by Vegware,

-Smoothie Bike from Edinburgh Bike Cooperative,

-17 bake off entries, with the Broughton Bake Off winner receiving an Afternoon Tea for Two voucher from Mimis Bakehouse,

-Lolly Lottery winner of a £10 Book Token voucher,

-10 lolly lottery winners winning a toothbrush and toothpaste set each  (#brushYourTeeth)

-approximately 250 games passports used! #stayActive

-Glee performance by our own Broughton Glee club,

-dance performances from Edinburgh Dance Academy, La Belle Arts and Zayna Dance Academy

– fencing workshops from Fencing Fun, Salle Holyrood Fencing Club.

Many activities and ideas at our fair were from the survey you filled in back in March 2023, thank you!  We hope you all enjoyed the fair and a feedback form will be sent out soon.

Summer Fair News!

A week on Saturday is our Summer Fair 10 June (Sat) 11:30-14:30!!  Loads of activities for all ages, games for the children, bake stall, BBQ, Glass tombola, performances and fencing workshop by local clubs etc etc…  FREE entry but plenty of opportunities to spend your pennies.  Bring your friends, family and neighbours along!

All funds raised help subside school outings, gardening, social projects and playground improvements.  😊 Thank you!

Sports Day 2023

This week we had our Sports Day in St. Mark’s Park.

It was lovely to see everyone taking part so well, and we were so lucky to have such beautiful sunny weather! Huge thanks to Mrs Bertram for all her organisation, and to our P7 helpers who practically ran the P1-3 Sports themselves!

We also had support from our Friends at Broughton parents and carers- see below how they helped out…

This week the FAB team helped served at three sporting events!  Nursery sports days on Monday and Wednesday and the school sports day on Tuesday!  What fantastic few days of sunshine and such buzzing atmosphere.

With our local Canonmills #Tesco donating 200 pieces of fruits meant we managed to offer them FREE to our pupils on the school’s sports day.

Big thanks the volunteers for donating your valuable time and refreshments (home baking or otherwise), and those who came and bought from us.  You all helped raise a total of £181.59!

The amount will help to subsidise school outings, playground improvements, gardening or social events.
