We’d like to introduce a valuable new Health and Wellbeing programme, Building Resilience, which we are implementing across the school this term. Building Resilience has been developed by a multi-disciplinary team over a number of years and is informed by the most up-to-date evidence about strategies that can support good social, emotional and mental health. Each child has a unique set of challenges to face as they grow and this teaching and learning aims to equip them with the tools they need to deal with these challenges in a positive, healthy way.
Building Resilience will now encompass most of the teaching and learning we do within Health and Wellbeing, apart from P.E., and it fits well with the Emotions Talks work we are already doing, along with our Rights Respecting Schools work. You will find some initial information about the programme attached and you will soon receive more detailed information about the first unit of learning, ‘Be Resilient’, along with a short family task.
Each unit of teaching and learning is delivered through a combination of special assemblies, follow-up class activities and a family task, and we would really appreciate your support with completing the family task as we believe that it is really important for children to have the opportunity to reflect upon and discuss this learning with you. In addition, the school will be holding a coffee morning on Friday, the 8th December where you will have the opportunity to learn more about various aspects of the programme.
We look forward to seeing many of you then.
