Last Thursday our P7 pupils attended an ‘Epic Day’ of outdoor adventure activities at Bonaly Scout Camp. P7 missed out on their annual excursion to Lagganlia this year, so this day was offered as a substitute for that.

We had lovely weather, and across the stage the children had the chance to take part in a range of activities- from a walk up the stream, to climbing wall, to a trek in the Pentlands, a bonfire and more. Our children were a credit to the school, and took part with enthusiasm, effort and great teamwork. Well done P7!

Although not the same as a week at Lagganlia, we agreed that the day was a big success, and we were all (staff included) a bit weary and achy on Friday!

We held our combined Sports Day/Edinburgh Marathon event on Friday 28th May. This would have been the Edinburgh Marathon festival weekend, so we decided to set up a Sports Day event that would also include an opportunity for everyone who had registered for EMF to get their run completed too. All the children took part in a run, and showed great effort in running lots of laps of the pitch! Thankfully the sun shone for us too, so we all had a lovely morning.

Message from Maria Gowans, Head Teacher and NHS Lothian

As you may already know, we are aware of a person in the school (nursery class) who has tested positive for COVID-19. We have been working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance. Persons have now been contacted because they have been in close and sustained contact with the case and the tracking process is now complete. These contacts will need to self-isolate and have been asked to book a COVID-19 test. Appropriate guidance and advice have been given. If there are any further cases of COVID-19 in the school/setting, we will ensure these individuals, and any of their close contacts, are advised to self-isolate promptly.

If you have not been contacted and your child remains well, you should continue to follow the school’s existing arrangements for your child. Enhanced cleaning and infection control measures are in place in line with national guidance. The school is safe and remains open. If you have any concerns in the meantime, or if you need to book a COVID-19 test because your child has developed symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough and/or a loss or change in sense of smell or taste) please visit the NHS Inform website http://www.nhsinform.scot or for non-clinical advice call 0800 028 2816.
