Welcome to our new Broughton Primary School website!

It is our intention that our new site provides up to date informaton about what is happening here at Broughton. You will notice that there are already several posts showing some of the events and news from our school year so far.

We hope you find the site easy to use, useful and informative and we hope it will improve communication between home and school!

Why not encourage your children to try our ‘New Website Quiz’, a copy of which is found here.

Broughton’s New Website Quiz

Navigate through our website to answer the questions.

Hand your entry in to Mr Borthwick by Friday 5th February, making sure you have your name and class filled in, and all correct entries will be put into a prize draw!

Good Luck!

Carols on the Stairs

We held our traditional singalong of Christmas Carols on the last day of term.

All the lights are turned off, and we create our own light using torches-(they also help us read our song words!)

What a lovely way to start the Christmas holidays!

Winter Crafts

holly-leavesWe had a House Morning on Friday 4th December, where we worked together in our House Groups, using  sustainable materials to create winter crafts. Some were sold at our very successful PSA Christmas Cafe, but we had a sale on Monday 21st December in school of those left over from the Cafe.

We managed to raise £64.35! Thanks to all for your hard work creating the crafts, and to all those who bought something!

Our annual PSA Christmas cafe was held on Friday 11th December. It was very well attended, and made a profit of £1,384.33!

Huge thanks and congratulations to all the PSA members for organising such a successful event!

Show Racism the Red Card

SRTRC-SCOTLAND

Our P7 pupils attended a day of workshops at Easter Road stadium. The theme of the day was “Show Racism the Red Card” and the workshops allowed the children to learn about different people’s experiences with racism, and ways to combat this in everyday life.

The children also were given a tour of the stadium, and had the opportunity to attend a press conference, quizzing current and ex-footballers on their experiences of racism. Everyone got a goody bag, and a few lucky pupils won prizes in a raffle, including a signed Hibs shirt!

Overall, a very worthwhile experience, with our P7s demonstrating good behaviour, manners and enthusiastic participation!

Children in Need 2015

The Pupil Council organised a dress down day for Children in Need. The children came to school in spots or as superheroes and we raised £256.02! We also had a visit from Pudsey the bear to our nursery! Well done to all who took part!

Remembrance

Remembrance

Our school was represented in the Remembrance service at Broughton St Mary’s church on Sunday 8th November.

Two of our house captains, Daniel McIntyre and Ben Rushforth, laid a wreath as part of the service. They also accepted a remembrance cross for the school from Graham McGeoch, the minister.

We were proud to be included in this service, and proud of our house captains for representing the school so well!
