P6 and P7 Grow a 5er Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for all of the interest and feedback on our products for Grow a 5er. It has been brought to our attention that some of the forms on the Sway we shared cannot be edited, we do apologise about this.  We are currently working on rectifying this issue and we hope to resolve it soon.

Worst case scenario and we cannot edit the permissions we hope to having a selling morning. We will contact you with an update as soon as we have one. In the meantime, there is no deadline until we sort this.

Apologies and we appreciate your patience.

FAB International Cafe- Friday

Please see below information on behalf of our Parent Council-

Dear Parents and Carers,

Broughton Primary’s Parent Council will be running a fund raising Café on Friday 26 April, from 11:30am to 1pm in the school dining hall.  It would be lovely to see as many people there as possible. See below for our promotional poster.

FAB International Cafe poster – April 26 2024

To join in with the school in celebrating diversity in Sunrise Week, the café will have an international theme.  We are looking for donations of food to sell at the café, sweet or savoury, and it would be really lovely to have food that gives a flavour of as many different countries and cultures as possible. Please do provide something if you can.  As usual it would be really helpful if you could provide a list of ingredients with your dish so that people with food intolerances know which food they can eat, and of course please don’t include nuts in any of the food.

We are planning to have a recipes board to share recipes from different countries and cultures.  If you do cook some food to donate, it would be lovely if you could also provide the recipe to go on the board.  And even if you can’t prepare some food for the cafe this time (we know it can be difficult when everyone is already juggling so much) please do consider providing a favourite family recipe for inclusion on the board.

And we can’t run these events without your help on the day.  If you are able to spare a bit of time on Friday to help with setting up the cafe, selling the food or clearing up please fill in the form below letting us know when you are available and how to contact you.

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday.  If you have any questions please email the Parent Council at broughtonparents@outlook.com

Kind regards

Rebecca Winterstein

P6 and P7 Grow a 5er Topic

Hi everyone, P6 & P7 are excited to share with you our products for our Grow a 5er topic.

A few months ago, pupils were tasked with creating their own business. Once they had created their business and business plan they were given a loan of £5 per pupil to reinvest in their business with the hope of turning a profit. These groups consist of 4 – 6 pupils and there is a wide variety of products on offer.  On the Sway we have created, each product has its own order form that pupils can complete at home with a parent or carer. Once orders are in and payment is received, P6 & P7 will begin to create and fulfil orders. Should groups not be able to complete orders, then we will refund pupils fully.

Sway of Products Available

Thanks for taking the time to look through our products, we hope you like them.

P6 & P7 pupils.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr Horan, Mr Murray or Miss Mooney. Thank you!

FAB Spring Disco

FAB Spring Disco – Hat Party update

Nearly £500 (after expenses) was raised at our Spring disco last Friday!!  Well done and thank you!  Most importantly, many of the children told us how much fun they had at the disco – dancing with their friends on the dance floor, the lucky dips, the cakes and just be free and run about in a safe environment, creating many happy memories.  We hope you enjoy these photos!

We all appreciated all the effort everyone put into decorating and wearing a hat on the night too – the children and adults!  Well done to the best hat winners too!

We are taking this opportunity to wish you a happy Easter break, enjoy Eid for those celebrating and a reminder that Sunday run and train together is not on Easter Sunday but will be back on Sunday 7th April at 10:30am.  Happy holidays, everyone!

Big Book of Achievement

P6 pupils Ege Ozener, Bea Skinner, Amar Singh and Pablo von Pezold took part in the annual P6 Euroquiz event this week. Lots of Edinburgh schools took part in the quiz. They have worked really hard in preparing for the quiz to learn all about European flags, capitals, language, landmarks and much more! There were some tricky questions in the quiz, but our team did well, and tried their best. Well done team!

EMF Training

Sunday Pilrig Park Train and Run together

Fun run 2024 sessions have started at Pilrig Park on Sunday!!  Some familiar faces and also great to see some new P1s joining our session.  These sessions offer a chance to be active outdoors, in a non competitive environment – you can run, jog or walk.  Well done everyone for joining our first session and hope you all had fun at the park after.

If your child(ren) have already signed up to Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF) races, please drop the parent council a line.  In 2018, we had 118 #broughtonRunners taking part in EMF, can we beat this number in 2024?

See you all next Sunday!!  #goBroughton!
