anniversary

This week has seen the 2nd anniversary of the launch of our Broughton Primary School website!

This weekend should see us hit 100,000 views since we launched!

Thanks for visiting!

We hope the website, and associated Twitter feed, continues to provide effective communication about the life and works of the school.

However, we are always looking to improve, so feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions.

Here’s to our next 100,000 visits!

Broughton Buddies

buddies
Broughton Buddies is new for 2018. This will take place during school for one morning or one afternoon a week. The groups will be mixed stages and have no more than twelve pupils. The groups will be facilitated by Mrs Dickinson and Ms Chambers.
The focus of the groups are to build friendships, gain confidence and develop a range of skills for life, learning and work. Some activities might include preparing and sharing a small healthy snack, playing educational games, outdoor learning and gardening.
Morning Drop-in
When the room is not being used for Broughton Buddies between 9 and 9.30 in the morning all children are welcome to come and use the time to speak to staff or a peer if they are needing a quiet space to talk about anything. This is always at the discretion of the class teacher.

Here is our Broughton Buddies Wordle!

  • collecting evidence of successful learning throughout the school, and helping to update our school website/Twitter feed
  • create a video tour of the school for our school website

Our PSA have set up a new source of fundraising through Easy2name.com which at the same time can help reduce the amount of lost property we have in school. You can purchase name labels for a range of items, and our PSA will receive cash back for each order.

Flyers and samples will be sent to the school, but if you are interested, a screenshot is attached to show you how to select the school from the drop down list before checkout.

Happy New Year to you all!

Here are a couple of updates for you all.

House Points

Every session, at this half-way point of the year, we announce the running totals for our House Points so far. The totals are very impressive, and show that our pupils have been working hard to earn points for a wide range of reasons.

Here are the current totals-

2nd    Pilrig    6002 points

3rd    McDonald    5460 points

Well done to our current leaders, Drummond! Let’s all keep earning those points, and we’ll see if these positions will change by the end of term in June!

PSA Winter Disco

Winter Disco 2018

Our PSA are holding a Winter Disco on Thursday 25th January in our school Gym Hall. The P1-3 disco will be from 6pm-7pm, and the P4-7 disco will be from 7.15-8.30pm.

The theme is Pyjama Party, so get dressed up in your PJs, onesies and slippers!

The PSA will only be selling tickets in advance, so once the flyer is sent home in your child’s school bag, to avoid disappointment, please fill in the tear off slip and return it to school in an envelope with payment. Any unsold tickets will be available on the night, but on a first come, first served basis.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, however each adult can supervise up to six children.

If you can help out at either disco, please email broughtonparents@gmail.com or post a message on the PSA Facebook page, accessible through the ‘Contact Us’ section of this website.

All money raised will go towards our cultural fund and playground developments.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Nativity!

Nativity

Last week, P1-3 held their traditional Christmas Nativity show in our local church, Broughton St.Mary’s.

Then yesterday, P4-7 held their own Nativity performance, again at Broughton St. Mary’s church.

Both performances were very successful! The children and staff have worked very hard over the last few weeks- learning lines or practising readings, and learning lots of songs, some old, some new!

We would like to thank Broughton St. Mary’s church for allowing us the use of their magnificent building to hold these special performances. They also help our shows run smoothly by helping out with preparations for the day. We are very grateful!

Here are some photos of both performances!

Today we brought our very busy term to a close with our traditional Carols on the Stairs celebration, with a very special visitor- Mrs O’Rourke!

The whole school was in very good voice once again!

Everyone at Broughton would like to wish all our pupils, parents and carers a very merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year!

See you all again on Tuesday 9th January!

PSA Christmas Cafe

Christmas cafe

Our PSA Christmas Cafe was held on Friday.

The cafe was very busy, with a range of stalls and activities. There was a range of hot and cold food for sale, Lolly lottery, Wine lottery, two raffles, Sparkle jars, Guess the name of the teddy and much more.

The cafe has so far raised £1327! Huge thanks to everyone involved in the planning and organisation of the event. Thanks also to all the pupil volunteers who gave their time and effort to help out! Last but not least, if you came along and bought something from the cafe, thanks to you too!

The school will be using some of the funds raised to buy some lovely new bins for our playground, and also to buy some resources to make our Quiet Area more special.

Well done everyone!

Last week saw some fantastic fund raising efforts in school.

Our Pupil Council organised our Dress Down Day for Children in Need, which raised a great total of £369.64!

Also, our P5 classes held a Bake Sale on Friday to raise funds for the Yard. P5 have been learning about this local organisation this term, and managed to raise an amazing sum of £253.10 for them!  I’m sure they’ll be very happy and grateful of P5’s efforts!

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to these worthy causes! Don’t forget our PSA Christmas Cafe is happening very soon, on Friday 1st December, 11.30-1.30pm!
