Cross Country
Mrs Ramm took our Cross Country team to the Edinburgh Schools Cross Country finals at Duddingston. The team did very well, and Daniel Ritchie, Alisha Iqbal, Ruth Adler and Ruari Morgan ranked in the top 50, out of over 200 runners! Daniel came 6th, another great achievement!
Edinburgh Primary Schools Swimming Gala
The Broughton Swim team attended the annual Edinburgh Schools Swimming Gala at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in March.
Our team were- Daniel Ritchie, Greig McVicar, Heather McCudden, Ruari Morgan, Harris Archibald, Calum Rathjen, Katherine Donn, Katie Telford, Ruth Adler and Leah Leavenworth.
Our breaststroke team came 2nd in their heat, and 5th in their final!
The backstroke team came 2nd in their heat and 4th in their final, just missing out on a medal!
The freestyle team won their heat, qualifying fastest for the final, and eventually came in 2nd in their final, winning a silver medal!
To qualify for all 3 finals is an incredible achievement, and to win a medal is amazing! Great behaviour and effort from the team!
Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day was on March 24th. Our Pupil Council organised our school’s participation, and lots of people came dressed in red, or as their favourite red nose day character! They also organised a fun competition, and the total amount raised by Broughton to send off to Comic Relief was £282! Well done to all, we’re sure the money will help lots of people in need!
Mrs O’Rourke
You will all have received a letter this week, informing you that Mrs O’Rourke, our Head Teacher, will be temporarily seconded to a post of Quality Improvement Education Officer. This secondment is planned to last 23 months, and it is anticipated that it will commence in early June. Once an acting Head has been appointed, we will inform you of this and confirm the date of handover.
Although we will all miss her, this is an exciting opportunity for Mrs O’Rourke, and one our school will benefit from when she returns!
We all wish her good luck in her new post!
