NHS Study into Colds

Please see the following information below from the NHS.

Recently, we published evidence that cells use the chloride from salt to fight viral infections. Also, nasal irrigation with salt water helped reduce the cold in adults. Hence, we are now testing if salt water nose drops helps children fight the cold.

If you have a child under 7 years of age, you may be able to join the fight.

The Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh are doing a study of salt water nose drops to see if it helps get rid of the cold faster.

Your child does not need to have a cold right now to take part!

You can join right now by calling/texting 07973657457 for an appointment to sign up and to be taught what to do the next time your child has a cold.

Your child does not need to attend.

Families completing the study will receive travel expenses and a £30 voucher to compensate for any inconvenience.

Lagganlia 2021- Pictures and Videos!

Good afternoon everyone!

Please see below some more of our pictures and video clips from our P7 residential excursion to Lagganlia, just before the October break.

Unfortunately we had some technical issues while we were at camp, so were unable to post these at the time.

Our P7s were a credit to us, and the staff at Lagganlia were so complimentary of our children, praising them for their politeness, positivity and determination in undertaking new challenges. We are very proud of them, and so grateful that we were able to have this wonderful experience. Well done everyone!

Enjoy the photos and clips! You might want to get comfy, as there are quite a few to look through!

Lagganlia 2021- Tuesday 12th October

Greetings from Lagganlia!

P7 have arrived safely and have settled quickly into the routines of daily life here at school camp.

Today was our first full day of activities, with lovely weather and lots of variety in our experiences today, including canoeing, skiing, mountain biking, archery, gorge walking and bushcraft!

Here are a selection of some photos of our first couple of days here. We’ll keep you posted of our adventures as the week goes on.

Show Racism the Red Card- Wear Red Day

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s largest anti-racism charity, established in 1996. A footballer called Shaka Hislop helped set up the charity after he suffered racist abuse and wanted to educate people to help challenge racist behaviour.

They have organised a ‘Wear Red Day’ to promote their message and try to raise funds. So next Friday 15th October, you can show your support for Wear Red Day by coming to school wearing something red. It could be socks, a t-shirt, a hair band, or a complete red outfit!

Please take part to show your support for the message that racism is never ok and help us to show racism the red card.

Follow this link to view a clip about ‘Wear Red Day’ and how you can donate to the charity, if you’d like to support in that way.

Below is a copy of the letter our Pupil Equalities Group sent out today. Please note that although the promotional materials say October 22nd, we will be on October break then, so we will be participating a week earlier, on Friday 15th October.

Have a good weekend everyone!
