FAB double events on Sun 19th March
We had our first Pilrig Park Run and Train together event last Sunday. 14 children joined us! The field was a bit muddy but it all added to the fun element – think mud balls after!! FAB Pilrig Park Run and Train together is on every Sunday at 10:30am until 21st May. See you at the next one, #broughtonrunners!
In the afternoon was our Playground Spring Clean event. Again, well attended. Almost all of the planters got tidied up, leaves swept, bulbs planted, tree labels being prepared and the children were rewarded with an egg hunt, organised by Mr Hippity Hoppity!
Thank you everyone! #gobroughton

All welcome and you do not need to have entered an #EMF race to join us. #goBroughton #broughtonrunners
Our playground spring clean is also on this Sunday, 1:30-3:30pm at the school playground. I think the Easter Bunny might be paying us an early visit!! (See posters attached)

FAB World Book Day Cafe
Reminder: Parent Council meeting – 14th March (Tues)
A reminder that the Broughton Parent Council meeting is on Tues 14th March 6:30-8:00pm. This meeting will be conducted over MS Teams. Meeting link will be emailed out in due course. Any questions/funding request/agenda items please contact the parent council. Thank you.
FAB World Book Cafe
On 3rd March, Broughton celebrated World Book Day by running a cafe with a book swap opportunity! Lots of delicious international food and high quality pre-loved books were donated, and many books have now gone to good homes.
Such a delight to see the pupils browse freely and passionately in selecting the books they wanted to take home to read. All the hard work in planning and organising by our volunteers has paid off.
The P7s also ran a stall to raise funds for their leaving party, which was well supported. We raised a total of nearly £500, with £100 to the P7s and £387 to FAB. #goBroughton
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to let you know that we will be taking part in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2023 which will be taking place from the 20th – 31st March across the United Kingdom. The Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel inspires pupils to make active journeys to school. Currently there are almost 750,000 pupils registered to take part!
On each day of the challenge, we will compete against other large primary schools with the aim of getting a high percentage of our pupils to make an active journey to school. Pupils will log their daily trips via the Sustrans website. Our best five days will be used to determine our final position.
Aside from the health benefits of being more active and improving the air quality around our school, we will also be entered into daily prize draws if over 15% of pupils make an active journey to school. There are some amazing prizes to be won. You can see these prizes on the Sustrans website https://bigwalkandwheel.org.uk/prizes
Overall winners will be picked at the end of the challenge and will receive an exclusive framed Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel Certificate 2023.
We would appreciate parent/carer support with this initiative where possible. We will also be sharing some additional information and posters via the school website in the lead up to the event.
If you would like to learn more about the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, then please visit the Sustrans Walk and Wheel homepage https://bigwalkandwheel.org.uk/
