Walk to School Week Celebration

A huge well done to Caiden Bell, Alexia Kiokpasoglou, Ria Collins and Seren Ferguson who represented Broughton Primary at Scottish Parliament for the launch of Walk to School Week 2023 this Wednesday. They had a great time and even go to meet Strider! We have had a busy year here at Broughton taking part in the Big Walk and Wheel from the 20th-31st March and logging our daily journeys on the Living Streets Travel Tracker.

Check out some photos from the event on the Living Streets blog https://www.livingstreets.org.uk/news-and-blog/press-media/pupils-celebrate-walk-to-school-week-at-scottish-parliament

FAB Fruit Trees

FAB fruit tree labels

We are very lucky to have a few fruit trees in our lower playground.  However, during the winter, it is hard to identify what they are!  It took five parents to design, print, laminate, identify and tie these labels on – true team work!  The pupils who attended our Playground Tidy Up event in March played a big part in colouring in and sticking pictures on, adding all the more important finishing touches to producing these fabulous labels!  Well done to them.

We encourage families to go and admire these labels and talk to your children about them, appreciate these fruit trees, help look after them and watch the flowers turning into fruits soon!

OPEG Book Audit

Our Pupil Equalities Group carried out an audit of library books to see if they represented a range of equalities themes. The group concluded that there could be more diversity in these books, but the good news is that we have already bought in some new titles, and will research some other suggested additions to our libraries!

The group shared their findings at assembly this week, and are happy to share their presentation below! They plan on carrying out more audit work like this, to get a picture across the whole school. Well done team!
