Happy Friday! Kick back and Relax with Mr Tubs Pork Crackling - News

Good morning everyone!

We hope your first week back has gone well and that you are managing to access your learning either through the website of through Teams (P6 and P7). All Primary 5 parents have now been sent their child’s login details for Teams so children should be able to access learning in this way from Monday 27th April.

Please let us know if you are having any problems with either accessing learning or finding a device to access your learning on.

This week we have been able to distribute almost all of the home learning packs that were not collected on the final day of school. We still have a very small number left so if you have not yet received yours, then please get in touch.

There are a large number of learning websites with great materials available to children. There are links to these on this website.

Today was our last ‘Through the Keyhole’ puzzler on our Twitter feed. However, look out next week for the start of a brand new photo quiz! Follow us on Twitter @Broughton_PS to play along!

We hope you all manage to have a good weekend.

Take care,

Mrs Venn, Mr Borthwick, Miss Bradley and Mrs Gowans

Using Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams - Wikipedia

This week we are starting to use Microsoft Teams to share home learning with our P6 pupils.

We aim to introduce Teams to P5 next week, with P4 following the week after.

Here is a link to some instructions to use that may help accessing Microsoft Teams.

Accessing Teams on Office 365

We’re also very grateful to Miss McCrimmon, who has created some videos to help with using Teams. We hope you find them useful. The following videos apply to using Teams with an Ipad.

  1. Logging into Teams

2. How to find Assignments

3. Editing an Assignment

4. Submitting work to hand in

We hope you find these useful, but please remember, all home learning is shared daily on the class pages of the website, so don’t let any technical glitches or issues with Teams cause you any undue stress. Simply take a photo of your work, and email the teacher if you like- they’ll still see it and get back to you!

Tuesday 21st April- Welcome Back!

Holy Shit, Drake Remixed Makonnen's "Club Goin' Up on a Tuesday ...

For pupils

Good morning everyone and welcome back to school! I hope you all managed to have a reasonably restful Easter Break and that you and your families are all well.
This is definitely the most unusual start to a summer term. We hope you manage to get back into some sort of routine and are able to do some, or all of your home learning each day. I’m sure your class teachers will have some fun activities lined up for you in the coming weeks.
Remember to follow us on Twitter as there are lots of ideas and suggestions as well as ‘Through the Keyhole’ which will start up again. Remember you can email your teacher directly or contact any of us should you have any questions or if you’d like to share any of the things you did over the Easter Break. We’d love to hear from you!

Mrs Venn, Mr Borthwick, Miss Bradley and Mrs Gowans

For Parents/Carers

Good morning. I hope you all managed to have some sort of break over Easter. I know some of our children have been attending the Hub. This is now operating at Drummond High School Monday to Friday from 8-6. If you are a category 1-3 Key Worker and have no one able to look after you child, you can apply for a place using the form found at
https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/schoolclosures

We will once again upload daily learning for each year group onto the school website. Primary 7 will continue to use Teams and this will also start for our Primary 6 classes. There will be support materials on the website for anyone who would like help with accessing this. We will be emailing out passwords for Teams to our Primary 5 learners in the coming days with the aim to commence Primary 5 Teams next week. Using Teams allows class teachers to give feedback on pupil learning.
I still wish to emphasise however that for many of you, juggling home schooling with your own work commitments and other family activities is challenging, so we would stress that you just do what you can.
Can I also remind you that we are able to apply for food parcels. Should any of you wish to receive a food parcel them please get in touch with me or the school admin.

Should you have any questions or need to talk to me about anything then please do not hesitate to get in touch. We will continue to keep you updated via the school website.

Hello everyone, and Happy Friday!

We’ve made it! We’ve reached the end of what will have been one of the most unusual and uncertain terms any of us have ever experienced. We are so proud of our Broughton community, for supporting each other through this difficult time.

Firstly, our amazing staff for keeping our home learning so well updated, and for supporting each other as friends too. Also, our fabulous families- you’ve worked so hard to keep going and your support is hugely important to us. We have composed the letter below to you all, which we hope you will find helpful in the times ahead.
